Q: Where can I find a replacement bulb for a 1999 Dodge Neon’s dash?
I have a ‘99 Dodge Neon. I don’t know much about cars, but apparently the bulb behind the SERVICE ENGINE indicator is missing. I’m not sure where to get one of these, so any help would be great. Thank you!

A: Its missing? Thats something a super-shady shop or used car dealer would do. Any car parts store should have one, though.

Q: How To Repair Dodge Dash?
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500HD with a Cummins Engine inside. It has only 65,000 miles on it and has developed a 6″ crack on the dash infront of the passenger’s side. I have read many reviews from people with the same problem and it seems like it will only get worse, to the point of some parts of the dash falling through. Someone PLEASE help me! I have looked all over the internet for a HARDcover dash overlay but can’t find anything besides a carpet one. I can’t find a replacement dash and don’t wanna spend a billion dollars to get it fixed. If anyone has had the problem before please tell me, and if you solved it on your own please tell me how, any posts are appreciated. THANK
YOU!!!!! :D

A: That is a common problem amongst all Dodge products. The only thing you can do is get the dash replaced. Any body shop can do this for you. The dash itself can only be obtained from a Dodge dealership, but any body shop can get it for you too. Keep in mind that it will crack again. There is nothing you can do to prevent it or repair it. It is just a cheaply made dash and they did nothing to remedy it. You will not find a used one because they are all cracked.

The dash is very expensive though because the passenger side airbag is built into it. If I am not mistaken, I think the dash without any labor is about $1300

Q: Replacement of 1998 Dodge Intrepid Infinity Stereo System?
We purchased this car with a after market CD installed and I pulled the covers off the front door panels and it appears that they replaced these as well. But it sounds like there is a speaker in the dash that is blown. Is there a small (3.5″) speaker in the dask, and can the wires just be cut? What about the tweeters, should they be cut or replaced?

A: there are 4″ speakers not 3.5″
wires can be cut – no problem
why to cut tweeters if they are ok.

make a budget -
get some new front components, it will be good for you

Q: Is refueling causing my ‘05 Dodge Neon to blow dash and tail light fuse?
I brought my car in to get the brakes fixed a few days ago, but also my dash lights had gone out, so I asked the mechanic to fix it.

He replaced the fuse and the bulb in the dash. I got in the car and went to a friend’s house for a while during the day, and at night I got in the car to go home. I went to the gas station and put some gas in the car (regular grade) and got on the freeway. About 5 minutes down the road, I heard the fuse blow and the dash lights went out. I called my uncle who is a mechanic and he had me get out and check, and sure enough the tail lights were also out (the brake and signal lights still worked). I brought the car back in to the mechanic, and he found that an entire running light fixture and bulb were missing. Probably from a previous accident before I owned the car (though I’ve owned it for 3 years now and don’t know how it’s worked all this time until all of a sudden it doesn’t). He replaced the fuse again, taped up the wires that were “grounding out” and ordered the part. So I planned on going back on Tuesday for him to put the parts in ($20). I hadn’t refueled until tonight, and minutes after I did, another fuse blew and my lights were out again.

Does anyone know what this problem might be and how much it should cost me? I’ve already dropped $500 into the brake repair and original dash light replacement.

A: refueling it won’t make a fuse blow in the car unless they did a really bad job on repairing the damage and the fuel door was somehow hitting or interfering with the wires on it,when he does replace the parts in it you need to have him simulate the refueling process and make sure this doesn’t happen again other wise your going to wind up back at the repair shop again, the reason im telling you this is i bought car that had been in an accident and it did that when you shut the trunk lid on it and it did it every single time so make sure that what he,s repairing does take care of it,good luck with it

Q: 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck Cigarette/Power Outlet Replacement?
I would like to know how to change out my cigarette/power outlet in my truck. Do I have to take part of the lower dash off? Can it be replaced without removing any dash parts?

A: On mine, I removed the dash face as one big piece. Then the “lighter area” is held in by a few screws. Remove those screws, and the socket is just plugged in by a few wires. Be sure to disconnect your battery first.

Q: Where can I find the speaker specicfications for a 2000 Dodge Avenger?
I’m trying to find replacement speakers for the dash speakers. Crutchfield.com only lists for the doors and the rear deck.

A: You can go to circuit city or even wal-mart has a speaker book you can look at for free it’ll tell you your speaker dimensions. But ya i didnt have good luck with crutchfeild either they said my camaro had speakers in the doors but it doesnt their in the dash and in the sail panels.

Q: Replacement CD/stereo for 2002 Dodge Durango SXT?
Considering purchasing a used 2002 Dodge Durango, but before I do, I want to know a good site to buy CD/stereos that will specifically fit the unusually shaped dash. Also wondering if a later model Durango CD/stereo will fit the 2002 model. Also, wanting to make sure that the new CD/stereo supports MP3’s/WMA’s. If I get the Durango, I would need to get this stereo installed professionally, so national businesses that sell/install such aftermarket creatures would be appreciated as well. I’m not really a car person, so I’m at a loss on where to begin.
@Spam Crushing Troll Killer
The biggest concern I have is that the dash is an unusual shape, so finding a radio that fits nicely and doesn’t look sloppy will be interesting.

I’m wanting to shop around to learn what options I should expect and what functions/gimmicks I should (or might want) to avoid. If I know what to look and ask for then I’m sure I’ll have a better experience when making the purchase.

As for a shop charging more to install a product they didn’t sell, I’m already in the mindset that they might refuse to do it period, so as I mentioned above, shopping around to learn more before proceeding.

A: Feel free to check out the head units at crutchfield.com, or other online sites, just keep this in mind. If you want it professionally installed (which I do recommend) many places will charge you more for bringing outside equipment in to get installed. It can be a hassle to deal with off brand names/equipment not sold by the point of purchase as they are not liable for the equipment but for the install job and this can turn into a back and forth between the customer and shop about what is wrong (even though the shop may be right) in the end it turns into a head ache for everyone.

So my advice would be to buy the equipment from the place you are going to have it installed at since they will jack up the price of outside equipment anyway.

You can get any type of radio you wanrt, single din or double din as you will need a dash kit to fit the radio into your car anyway. Check local Best Buys or car audio shops that have head units that support mp3/wma and have them explain the differences to you. This is the best way to find what you want.

EDIT- Ok about the radio fitment. There are several companies that sell pretty much the same dash kit (which any aftermarket radio will fit in) so it really won’t look sloppy. They are slightly textured black ABS plastic kits that fit in the space that your factory radio was, then have a rectangular opening for the aftermarket radio to fit in. Stop by any local car audio shop to see the finish on a dash kit to get an idea in you want. If they still aren’t what you are looking for you can have a car audio shop finish them however you want (assuming the shop is reputable and skilled) suede covering, wood grain, custom paint… At that point it’s what you can imagine and afford. Really though the normal dash kits are an industry standard and will look fine in a Durango.

Q: What is the parts & labor cost on replacement of Body Control Module in 02 Dodge Stratus?
I recently took my 02 Stratus to dealership when it failed inspection due to lack of communication with state computer. It took 2 1/2 day visits (as i live 45mins away) to arrive at diagnosis as no check engine light was on. I paid $89 for the first day and second day’s diagnostic fee which covers dash removal etc is being rolled in to total cost of replacement which will be $820+tax. I was told that it would just take a couple of hours and that the part is around $200 but I can’t account for the rest. Hoping for some expert advise to make-sure this is a fair price.
Thanks.

A: the rest was for diagnostic fee,s was labor cost,i don’t think it was a fair price, but you was dealing with a dealer and they don’t come cheap these days, their over head on operating cost is twice that of a normal shop if not more, considering the car got repaired though and all is well id say coming from a dealer it was fair, not good but fair, good luck.
