I was driving down the road I had my music kinda loud I’m not sure if he could here it but probably. I was 1 1/2 – 2 car lengths behind him. He was going slow the whole time and then all the sudden he turned his lights on for like 2 seconds and slammed on his brakes and then kept driving. A: It sounds to me like you were tailgating the officer and he was giving you a warning to back up and to turn your music down.You should be happy he didn’t actually stop you for it and give you a ticket.

Q: Why is it that when I ask questions about the Mormon religion that I get these long convoluted, drawn out…..

All I can get out their answers is, that their Church changes with the times and the prophets whenever I ask about all of the changes to their book and doctrine over the years since the revelation of the plates to Joseph Smith. Socko, I was raised by a former one and have been around it my whole life (well over 40 years now) too. You have answered my question perfectly. Their doctrine changes like the wind and they are incapable of giving a straight answer. The best part of your answer is “they talk in circles”!!!!
Just so everyone knows where I’m coming from. My late mother was a Mormon from California when she married my dad, a member of the Church of Christ form Arkansas. Neither one went to church after they were married. I was allowed to attend any church that I wanted with friends or family as I was growing up and did. I was an only child so, my Mormon cousins were the closest thing that I had to siblings. As I grew older I just could not help but feel that because I rejected thier religion that they were starting to treat me differently (not love me as much). Now that I am a middle aged man, I know it for a fact. I further know that it is their religion and the fact that I have rejected it as false is the reason for it. It also doesn’t help at all that I am adopted anddo not carry their blood in my veins. I know this because family members that have been excommunicated get treated better than I ever have. It really for them to preach family values and then go and hurt my heart so bad!

Q: 1967 Pontiac Catalina?
So heres my dilemma. I own a 1967 Catalina, and am looking to sell, but being a girl, with no idea how to talk the lingo or even know what I’m looking at, I’m trying to find some help.

1. What does the 2+2 option mean? How would I know if my Cat was the base model or has this option?
2. There were several engines available for this car in 1967. Is there any way to tell which engine I have?
3. To the best of my knowledge, everything in the car is original. Is there any identifying markers, engine wise that I could look for to make sure?

Basically, I need to know what someone would want to know if buying a collector car and how to find out that information myself. I’m not completely inept, I take care of the car myself, but now that I’m looking to sell, I’m realizing how uneducated I am about it. (I just like it because she’s pretty, and sounds awesome)

A: 2+2 is the full out hot rod option on your car. If your car has the 2+2 option it may either have a tri-power (3 2-barrel carburetors) or a single 4-barrel. Either way it will have the 428 big block. Usually you can check the vin code and see what engine the car began it’s life with. But prior to 1972, Pontiac’s didn’t have a designated code for engines in the vin. You’ll have to find the numbers on the engine block and see if they match. Finding out your engine size should be easy since it only came with two choices: 400 small block and 428 big block. They are similar looking so it’s hard to tell them apart, but the 428 looks “beefier”. Give the block number to a mechanic or parts dealer and they’ll tell you. Interesting trivia you can throw at your buyers, 67 was the last year the 2+2 option was available for the Catalina. The popularity of the lighter GTO and the Firebird made a hot-rod Cat unappealing to produce. However, if your Catalina is a 2+2 then it is more desirable (not to mention more valuable) then a GTO of the same year.

Q: What does this engine trouble code mean?
Today I was driving my 97 Subaru Legacy 2.2 and my CEL came on, it was PO170 – Fuel Trim. The car ran fine, and I didn’t notice any difference in performance. I scanned the code when I got home, but I don’t know what it means? I also looked under my hood and noticed my oil cap was missing? I added oil last week and I am absolutely sure I tightened it back up but it’s gone. Could this have something to do with the CEL? In addition, I got my starter serviced a few months back and the mechanic told me I need a front oil seal replaced, and I noticed that I’ve been having to add oil frequently so I’m sure its leaking at a steady pace. I didn’t check it today because it’s dark but I will in the morning. Where should I start checking things to figure out what caused the CEL, and what relation could this have to the missing oil cap?

P.S. – Please don’t tell me to “go see a mechanic” I consider myself an amateur mechanic and I know my way around an engine, I will go to a mechanic if it is beyond my ability to repair. Please offer educated answers only for what could have happened.

Well, obviously it’s not spewing all over the road because like it says, a few MONTHS ago I had the mechanic tell me about it so it’s a slow leak. I think if it was spewing across the road the engine would’ve exploded within a few minutes. It’s leaking externally, theres no blue smoke but I have been smelling burning oil from it hitting hot exhaust and I know it has to be fixed. I don’t use the car often which is why i’ve put off fixing the seal which I will admit isn’t a good idea.

A: p0170 fuel trim (ft) malfunction.
in this, the car has lost the ability or cannot adjust any more than it has already to get into that acceptable window. if you can look at freeze frame data and see which direction it is trying to go. if the system is adding more fuel that means that you have a vacuum leak more than likely, and if it is taking fuel away, then you could have a leaking injector or the vacuum diaphragm is cracked and allowing raw fuel into the intake. i have seen both of these.
as for the front oil seal, that should be self explanatory, replace it, and the oil cap is not a monitored system so it should not have anything to do with the cel.

“SOMEBODY HELP ME! i screamed and gasped at the same time. I moved back a bit and patted the little girls face. I looked at my silver bracelet and took it off and placed it on the little girls wrist. I slowly stumbled back to the car and reached for my phone and called 000. The ambulance staff wrapped me up in a towel and tried to support me. They took me in the back of the ambulance before i passed out in their arms.

2 YEARS LATER.
Two years ago I had a horrible accident and killed a gorgeous little girl. A girl that nobody knew. Police didn’t even know who her parents were or what her age was. Apparently she had a friend who was 8 her name was Star. Even stars parents didn’t know she had a little 5 year old friend. Star was a quiet girl and eventually told a police woman that the little girls name was Dakota. The only thing people knew about Dakota was that she was American.

~Known each other for 2-2 1/2 years
~I’m 17 (soon to be 18) he’s 18 (both seniors in high school
~We flirted quite a lot our Junior year
~Junior year we got pretty close to each other
~I never would of thought he’d like to hang out over Summer Vaca. (Just a feeling)
~We never hung out out of school

The other night I was talking to him randomly on IM. He recently got a tattoo so I say,

Me: “For some reason I can’t picture you with a tattoo so, I refuse to believe you have one ’till I see it.”
Him:”Well, why don’t we hang out, maybe go get lunch so that I can show you my tattoo and catch up.” (something along those lines)

I had to give him my number that day because, during school my Junior year I tried to give him my number but he refused to take it because he wouldn’t call me. So, I think it kinda means something that he’s not only gunna call me on the day we hang out but before that too. We’ve never actually spoken on the phone. He also ask me if I get texting…but I don’t own a cell. This will be the first time we’ve hung out all summer and we’ve been on Summer Vaca. for about 2 months now.

Does this sound like a date type thing?

Q: Does the spark plug wires or the spark plug wire distributor have numbers?
Okay, so I have a 1999 Camry LE 2.2 4CL, and I changed the spark plugs and the spark plug wires on it for the first time in my life (never did it), and now it the engine is shaking when I start it and also the car turns of when putting in a D or R gear.
The only bad thing which I did is that I took all of the 4 plug wires at once and then replaced them with the new ones. And somebody told me that the plug wire distributor (each socket) have its own numbers which has to be matched with the plug wires each end going to the socket, and because of not misplacing it like I did, one wire should be taken out at a time.
Please help, what should I do now. I mean can I arrange the wires again and plug right back my self except for going to the mechanic, and also where are the numbers located is it on both the plug wire and the socket or where. Thank you (10 points for helpful answer).

A: You’ll be ok. On the distributor cap, each socket that the plug wires go into will have a number beside, except the one in the middle which goes to the coil. The cylinders are 1,2,3,4… I think from driver side to passenger side, although somebody will have to verify that. Match that cylinder’s spark plug with the number on the distributor cap. Which wire you use doesn’t make a huge difference, except they are usually arranged in sizes so that the longest one goes to the plug farthest from the distributor.

Q: Nissan 300zx worth buying?
I am interested in a 1991 Nissan 300zx 2+2, someone is selling one for $2,200 it has 85,000 miles, but it needs a new clutch and wiring harness. How much wwould it cost to fix all that? and what exactly is a wiring harness? He says it needs to be replaced because theres some bad connections due to corrosion. Does that mean the car has to be rewired? Is this deal worth it?

A: Inc means ‘incomplete’. Those emissions tests have not been performed by the computer yet. It could take up to 100 miles of driving. Keep driving the vehicle, and be sure to do lets of stops and starts and vary your speeds.

Q: Can Someone Interpret… This Crazy Dream Of Mine:P?
So like… 2 hours ago i was like really out of it dreaming…

I can’t remember all of it but starts off kinda like watching a movie 30mins in…. im at school university… but a school i’ve never been too… im on like level 4 i don’t see a number just remember going down 4 times of stairs… i was in a rush to get home because i had alot to do apparently in my dream state… when i go out into the open i see change lying on the floor like there were 2 $2 coins a 50cent coin and like the rest that were 5cents and 10cents…. i picked up the $2 coins and the 50cent coin but left the rest…

Now my dream self wants to head to the train station to get home… so i move out into the open and i see a $2 coin rolling on the floor but i don’t bother with it because i really want to get home… now i see a familiar face (knew this guy from school) hes looking for his coin and i point it out to him and he says thanks… So i move further along but now more people that i knew from school and that guy are starting to accuse me of taking their coins… even though i did in my dream self i lie to them and say i didn’t… and they say “i saw you take them” but my dream self was aware that nobody saw me taking it so i kept denying it…

Half way walking… i realise im going the wrong direction to the train station so i head back past all the way ive been walking… (its was a pretty open space… like outside a school) i spot this guy (ive never seen before in my life) and hes asking people do you know where the train station is… i over hear him and i volunteer to help him saying i know where… we head along and we get to the point where i first finish going down stairs… and my foot starts to hurt FOR NO REASON… lol so now this guy needs to help me walk… in the mean time the group is still accusing me… and their tone is getting more angry and im starting to feel uneasy…

For some reason i get to lucid dream for a moment (I have been able to lucid the whole of dream sometimes) and i fastward and im already at the train station… and im already elbowing the guy in the face to escape in the train…

Another fast forward nearly to my station… i meet this other guy he was my friend in school… (my dream self is led to believe that this is the same person as the person who didn’t know where the train station was)… He asks me what he should do for valentines day (that was 2 days ago) for his girlfriend who he is going to see in alabama (im from Australia) all this talking me and him get off the wrong station… but are more closer to my house… we get to my house… (my hold house my parents had i live in a different one now) and we go out the back garage… i see 4 cars… we go out the garage it starts raining… i say to him “let me ask my dad if he can drive us there”

My dad throws me the keys but im in the passenger… now my friend is driving the car… hes a bad driver and im telling him how to drive lol… we are heading to the middle of town… because i have alot of things to do and i need to go to this store (i really do need to… im going there tomorrow been on my mind for a week now) after a few almost accidents with this guy driving dream pauses…

I awake for 2mins look at the time its 10:22am i go back into deep sleep… my mind restarts the dream of me going out the garage but this time im driving… still needed to get to the store… but the car im driving has weird pedals… when im driving the breaks don’t seem to work… when i get to the intersection the car is just not slowing down when im stepping on the breaks (i refrain from using the handbrake because i know it might damage the car) so i have to like quickly speed past incoming cars while crossing… when i make the 2nd turn… the car is still not braking… so i have to speed turn… im looking to my left to see if any cars are coming but my eyes are blurry and it looks clear i go a huge bus comes and the bus is speeding past in the parking lane…

we keep (apparently know im riding with a girl ON A MOTORCYCLE) before it was a car… ive never seen this girl before… we make the turn… and the motorcycle has the same probleme it has no breaks… and for some reason im going really fast… i just keep getting closer and closer to the motorcycles in front of me… and im just going faster and faster… and now im going so fast im flying off the ground riding sideways on fences… hit the ground feel safe still goes faster and goes one more time sideways… and this time i feel like we are going to crash and die… but for some reason i can lucid dream and i put my hand on the ground and he land up right… now im sitting on the curb… then i lie down… and i hear applause…

then dream over i wake up in a cold sweat… WHAT JUST HAPPENED????

Q: Hissing and steam from 97 Cavalier. Help!?
Alright, so lets get things straight. I’m new to mechanics with cars, i’m learning but by no means a certified mechanic.

Recently the 97 chevy cavalier I own (think its 2.2 liter) started making a hissing sound (it stutters, not constant.) and producing what I’m assuming is steam after the car has been driven a couple miles. The car doesn’t seem to be overheating which is good… but i’m still not sure what it is.

Unfortunately, popping open the hood doesn’t help either. Whatever is causing the noise and steam is hidden by the engine and I can’t get it jacked up for a couple days. I found the engine online and have pointed out the area its coming from.

I’m not going to take this car to the mechanic and pay a small fortune to get it diagnosed and fixed when its probably something I can do on my own. (especially considering its pretty used and abused. 138k, needs a tune-up, oil change, probably a transmission fluid change, blah blah.

A: Possibly water pump. Could also be leaking from the lower radiator hose. If it is an outside leak, the steam you’re seeing is simply from the coolant landing on any of the numerous hot spots “block, down pipe, etc* and boiling. Ensure your temperature sending unit is functioning properly, to rule out an internal leak. Hoses are no more than $15-$20. If you determine its the water pump, do your research before trying to replace it yourself, because you’ll also be removing and resetting the timing belt/chain during the repair.

Q: Selling a rebuilt car. Fair price?
Ok, so after 2 years I just found out my lovely car is rebuilt. It’s right there on the Title, I just never knew what that meant or cared. Now I know.

It’s a Chevrolet Cobalt 2005 sedan 4D, 4-Cyl, 2.2 Liter. Automatic transmission, great A/C, AM/FM stereo, single disc. Looks very very good inside and outside. Right now it has 55,228 miles.

I’ve honestly never had one single problem with it in the 2 years I’ve owned it. I bought it for $6,000 and now I’m trying to sell it for $4,500–$5,000. What do you think of that price?? Is it too much considering it’s rebuilt? I dont really know what kind of accident it was involved in to get totaled. But I’ve never crashed it myself, or even scratch it, and I’m telling you it’s worked marvelously.

I decided to sell it yesterday, because I’m going away to college and it’s a burden to take it since I won’t really need it on campus.

So I went to this small local dealer to get an offer yesterday, and after running a check to my title and the VIN number, the guy says since it’s rebuilt he can give me tops $1500.
I was like dude are you high? it’s not like I’m selling a bike here, this is a freaking car, I might not know much about cars, but I can tell this one runs great, plus I can testify to its performance after 2 years of daily use!!!

I’m not going to the dealers/crackpots now, I’m selling it to individual buyers, I was just wondering whether the price was fair, since I cant obviously hide the fact that it’s rebuilt.

A: AutoTrader is a great place to buy and sell cars. They have more than eBay Motors or Yahoo Autos, both good places also. I went on AutoTrader, and I searched Cobalt, 2005, under 75,000 miles. I got hundreds of returns, and all of them were for $7,000, $8,000, and $9,000. Obviously, the dealer just wants to make money, and thinks maybe you are desperate. I think if you put your car on Craigslist and also a place like AutoTrader for $5,500, it would stand out since so many cars on there are more expensive. Someone will try to talk you down, and you can sell it for $5,000. A poorer person will be happy to take the chance on a rebuilt car because cars with 50,000 miles on them for $5,000 are VERY hard to find. People want a car with low miles, and you have one. So see what it takes to list it on AutoTrader. I think Yahoo Autos works with Cars.com. Good luck.

And, when you want to buy a car in the future, just get on AutoTrader and search for cars with low miles.

I changed the search from low price to high price, and 1 was $5,400. 3 were $6,000. A couple were $6,500, and the rest were for $7,000 plus. There were 100’s of cars listed. Good luck.
