Q: Are Mitsubishi’s good cars?
I bought myself a 2003 5 speed Mitsubishi Eclipse.
It has 76,000 miles.
I had pretty bad luck with VW’s , Beemers, american cars.
What can I expect from this car? It drives and looks like it just came out of the show room.

Any advise Mechanics / People who actually know about cars?
Thanks!!!

A: Mitsubishi have def made some great cars and the eclipse has a good name.

Ignore bad comments about Mitsubishi’s i have a good amount of friends with 3000gt’s and fto’s and Galant vr4 and loads with Evo’s and all have been good cars to them.

for above sti’s are really great but against an Evo,Evo everytime.

Q: Are Mitsubishi’s good cars?Reliable?value?considering 2008 lancer…?
I am considering buying a 2008 Lancer and this is my first new car. I am a student and i dont need something that will break down next year or two years from now…I wanted to stick with a good ol’ honda but the lancer is sick…any feedback would help a lot…

A: I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer and I really like it, it’s already got about 72000 miles on it (only 5000 of those were from me) and it still drives really nice. Still on the stock clutch, motor runs clean, no complaints really. I agree the new Lancers look great, and they’re a pretty good value for all the features at that price point. I’d definitely recommend it.

Q: Anyone who has owned a Mitsubishi Lancer or just a Mitsubishi in general?
Or anyone with any knowledge of cars?
I am thinking of buying a new-used ‘06 Mitsubishi Lancer – it only has 10,000 miles on it. I’ve been trying to do some research, but I’ve decided to also ask you guys to see – are Mitsubishi’s good cars? Are they reliable?
I owned a ‘93 Eclipse a few years ago, and it was fine for it’s age, but this is the first newer car I’ll be buying, and I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

A: The 2000 Mitsubishi Galant (assembled in Illinois) is very reliable. 7 years and 135,000 miles later…still running fine. However, the MIL comes on once in a while for the catalytic converter. But that’s acceptable for a 7-year-old car with 135,000 miles. I did most of the maintenance myself. Maintain the car well, and it will last a long time. The Lancer is imported from Japan. I don’t have experience with it, but I expect it to last as long as the Illinois-assembled Galant. Mitsubishi cars may not be fun and exciting, but they are reliable (four-bangers).

Q: hi mitsubishi good cars?
are Mitsubishi’s reliable cars?

A: Mitsubishi are okay but will they be around in the next couple of years? They are having a hard time in the market place.
Go with a Honda, Toyota or Subaru. These brand are tried, tested and true.. Subaru is safest and most reliable.

Q: Do mitsubishi have (oil leakage problems) or in general oil problems) do they tend to smoke mainly a 02 galant?
Please be honest i am planning on getting a 2002 galant but my dad is very skeptical about buying me one. My mom had a eagle summit and it started smoking after 11 years but that’s actually pretty good i think but in mitsubishi’s defense she says they are good cars.
She bought her car brand new .

A: Mitsubishi’s are notorious for burning and leaking oil. There engines are
quite a pain to pull out just to replace the front and rear main oil seals
and the valve seals wear out fast and that is what causes the oil burning. You would have to do a valve rebuild job on it and it would be good for another 30,000 miles or so. I have one and it is not a fun car to
work on. I would encourage you to look elsewhere for a more reputable
car and don’t make the mistake I made.

Q: Is it worth getting a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse?
This it the car i am interested in getting its 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT Spyder. it has a V6 3.0L engine. It has 86,500 miles on it. its a convertable. it has a 4 speed automatic transmission. The car is for $7500

The thing i am concerned about is that people tell me that Mitsubishi’s are not good cars. Even though they are Japanese cars they are not as good as hondas, toyotas, or even nissans. I have also heard that they die out about at 150,000 miles. They do not last long.

Now is that really true or is it rumors?

I am 18 and this would be my first car. Currently this car doesn’t have any mods on it but i might get some on it. should I ??

So is it really worth getting this car or no??
am i paying a good price or you think i am getting over charged??
are mitsubishi good cars or not?
is a eclipse 2002 good??

A: They are basically a bottomless pit for repirs and a 2002 should cost 2-000,00 in perfect condition. as far as mods there are none that will cost 10 times what car is worth to get 30-50 Hp.

Q: Looking to buy a new car.?
I was looking to buy a Toyota Corolla, so my dad and I went to the dealer and we saw the 2009 Corolla’s and my dad was saying they were to expensive they were about 16k, so they kept showing us around and they showed us a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant for 13k with 20k miles and my dad loved the car, I kind liked it. So the question is which car is better a Corolla or a Galant and are Mitsubishi’s good long lasting cars? Or is there a better car then these two?

A: Both are good cars.
Make sure you can deal with the engine noise of the Galant if it is the 4 cylinder. We owned a 2004 Galant ES and how loud the engine was when driving it was the reason we ended up getting rid of it.

We have owned 2 Galants and had no problems with either from a reliability perspective.

Make sure you have any used car inspected by a certified, independent mechanic before you buy it. Even if it is from a dealer. The $125 it will cost is worth the piece of mind of not knowing you are purchasing someone else’s problem.

Q: What do you think about Mitsubishi’s (Eclipse)?
I sold my 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S because the payments and insurance was getting to be to much : ( and I loved loved loved it!!!

So now I am trying to find a cheaper car to kind of replace it. I don’t really care for the older Celicas, what I was looking at the eclipse.

Now I have heard good things about them, however looking at some of the other cars mitsubishi makes seem cheap. So is this really a good brand? Is the 95-99 eclipse a good car?

Thank you!
Sorry wrong section!

A: Mitsubishi is a very popular car in Asia but it never really went over very well in America. Sales wise they are way behind Toyota, Honda and Nissan. They have poor resale value and that is why they are so cheap. They are really not that bad but compared to your Celica you will probably hate it.

Q: Looking at a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant?
I’m getting my first car and I found a 2003 Mitsubishi galant ES that I like. It has 50,000 miles on it and is priced for $4,495. Does anybody know from experience if these are good cars? Also, how many miles do Mitsubishi’s generally go up to before they crap out?

A: Since I have taken three over 250,000 miles….

Invariably, the most trashed car in a supermarket parking lot is a Galant of that 1999-2003 body style. I think they get no respect. Mitsubishi screwed up their marketing when they pitched that car to the credit challenged. The car is a good one. They STAY good when they are maintained to the factory standard. So have the timing belt changed every 60,000 miles, and have the transmission flushed with MITSUBISHI SP III trans fluid every 24,000 miles. Galants are my car of choice. I’ve had six of them.

Q: Where is a good place to buy used cars in Phoenix Arizona?
I am mainly looking for Mitsubishi’s

A: I don’t know if it’s still there. Used to be on Camelback and 16th Street many years ago. Miracle used cars had a good inventory that changed every week. Their motto was, “If it’s a good one, it’s a Miracle”.

Q: Is a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant a bad car?
I bought this car without knowing much about the brand (or actually, my mom did for me.) It doesn’t have a warranty, and it cost $6,000. My sister’s husband, who knows a lot about cars, says that Mitsubishi’s aren’t good, and the transmissions are kind of bad. My sister wants me to take it back to the dealer and look for a Honda or a Nissan or a Saturn. My mom thinks we should keep it. Does anybody know anything about Mitsubishi Galants, or just Mitsubishis in general?

A: The Subie guy is correct in saying that the Galants are not bad cars. They are actually reliable cars but score low in the Consumer Report tests. Your brother in law probably heard somebody who heard from somebody that the Galants are bad cars. Mitsubishi has had a bad rap since WWII having made the Japanese fighter planes. Having said that, Mitsubishi’s luck hasn’t improved specially when Chrysler came in the picture. The company lost money year after year after year. After Mitsubishi separated completely from Chrysler 2-3 years ago, the company actually started making a profit. That translates to building better cars in the subsequent year. And better cars they built. Enter the Outlander, Evo X and soon to come will be an electric powered subcompact car based on the “i.”

The price you paid for the car is actually reasonable. Just keep a good maintenance schedule for the car. The car will last you for quite sometime if you do. I’ve had a Lancer since ‘87 and it still runs. My dad bought a ‘92 Lancer and got rid of it for a ‘97 Lancer. I’ve had my Eclipse since ‘95. Bought an ‘02 Montero Limited in ‘01 and an Evo IX MR in ‘06. Not only do I own multiple Mitsubishi cars, my cousins and aunts also own a car or two of Mitsubishi. And why do we keep buying cars from Mitsubishi? Because they have not been problem cars for us. Case in point: Bought a Ford Ranger – lasted 2 years. Never again did I venture outside Mitsubishi. My aunt bought a Cavalier – lasted a year. Was in and out of the dealership repair shop. She bought a Mitsubishi Diamante – lasted 12 years ’til she sold it to a friend. It still runs today. My cousin bought a Saturn – junk! Got rid of it in 6 months for a Monte Carlo. Also was in and out of the repair shop. Got rid of that sucker and she bought a Honda Prelude. She’s so much happier. My other cousin bought an Eclipse in 2000 to replace his aging Isuzu Amigo. He is happier with the Eclipse.

Keep the car and take care of it.

Q: What’s a good, fast car that’s not too expensive and could be good for racing?
I’m14 and I’m just thinking about what kind of car I want when I get one.
This is some of what I’ve heard about different makes of cars so far:
I’ve heard that Mitsubishi’s break down a lot.
I also asked my friend about Dodge’s and he says they get horrible mileage.
Mazda’s are nice but pretty expensive (or so I’ve heard).
I also like Nissan but the 350Z’s are expensive, and I’m pretty sure the Skyline’s are too.

Anyway, these are the cars I had in mind:
‘04- ‘06 Mazda RX-8 – $15,000
‘04- ‘06 Mazda Miata MX-5 – $12,000
‘05 Ford Mustang – $15,000
‘06- ‘08 Chevy Impala – $12,000
‘03 Subaru Impreza – $12,000
‘05 Scion tC – $10,000

These are just some of the cars I found. Also, I’m pretty sure my parents will match what I can make for a car.

Another question: Where can I find a car in bad condition that maybe my dad and I can fix up?

Thanks

A: Of the bunch, the Mustang and Impala are your best choices. If you’re able, you might be able to find an old muscle car and repair/restore it. late 60’s / early 70’s Dart’s are often available for $8000 – $12000 or so and they go like H*** on Wheels.

Q: Where is a good place to get a car painted in CT,MA or RI?
Hi I’m looking to get my Mitsubishi’s eclipse painted. Does anyone know of a good place in the CT,MA or RI area that does a good job at a decent price? the only place i know of is Maaco and i will not go there….If anyone has any suggestions for me i would greatly appreciate it

thanks so much

A: Some of your local body shops also do their own painting. Go talk to one of them, at worse they can recommend someone. Good Luck!

Q: Mitsubishi Lancer 2003 VS Honda Integra 2000, Maintenace, reliablilty etc?
Both have done 90,000 km’s and both are automatic. They are both 1.8 litre engines and are modified as in body kits and rims and all that!

Any experience with either of these cars? I hear the integra has a better safety rating and are quite good and i have heard some unofficial bad things about Mitsubishi’s.

A: Mitsubishi’s are arguably, not THAT reliable cars. There are some owners that can take care of their cars and maintain it so that it doesn’t break down. But for being a person who currently has a 1993 Honda Accord still with a swapped 92-96 JDM H22a motor. Honda’s is the way to go. Maintenance is SUPER easy on Honda’s. Mitsubishi’s if I’m not mistaken, once they have an electrical issue, everything doesn’t work. I wanted an Integra for quite a long time. So I’d personally go with Honda/Acura. Especially the older the cars, they have really STRONG bodywork, so like the newer cars, it doesn’t dent so easily. Hope this helps! God Bless!

Q: I am plaining on getting a Mitsubishi EVO 03-06? I would like to here more about the car in your opinion!!!?
Question Details: Is it reliable…well i know it depends on how you take care of it but still i dont think Mitsubishi’s are as reliable as a Toyota or Honda rite(those cars can be trusted even after it crosses 175,000 miles) if it was taken good care of but i have never heard of any GM cars lasting that long. So yea is EVO a car like Toyota & Honda or like GM.

A: I can tell you from my own personal experiance, Mitsubishis do have a good history of the engines ect. lasting a long time. Their not AS RELIABLE as a Toyota or a Honda but they do last a while, as long as you take care of it of course. My sister has a 91 Eclipse and it has almost 170k miles on it. It still runs good and the only major work we had to do to it was the fuel pump went bad like two times. Also i would take it to the local drag strip just for fun and it never tore anything up.
