My local electric utility company has been bringing boom-lift trucks to a nearby power pole and lift an electrician to work on the power lines. They use loudspeakers to communicate from the top of the pole with the people on the ground. However, before talking, the loudspeaker emits a loud sound like a Morse code signal with varying frequencies and no pauses, then they say what they have to say through the loudspeaker. Sometimes, this Morse code-like sound is emitted without any talk afterwards. What is this sound for?

A: The utility I work for uses a radio system that has multiple towers to comunicate throughout the company. You actualy dial like using a phone to get to different towers in different areas. Sometime the towers and systems themselves “Dial Up” to relay information about their status etc. It sounds like the workers that you are seeing are doing “hotline” work. It is extremly important that they have communication with the spotter onthe ground so that they do not come in contact with energized primary with unprotected parts of the equipment or lineman. They may have decided that to negate any noise source in the area that they would use a loud speaker.
Q: Truck Speaker and radio Set Up?
I was curious if I bought a Pioneer DEH-2100IB could I hook up 4 Polk Audio db651 180 Watts 2-Way Coaxial Loudspeakers (Size is right)? Then would I need an amplifier to hook up an Pioneer TS-SW3041D 12″ 1400W Shallow Mount Subwoofer or could I go directly the radio? If anyone knows any good sites on making a set up for a speaker system any information in this area it would be helpful as I am new to this area but am willing to try it out.

A: Pioneer head is fine, Polks are fine. No you cant hook the sub to the head. You will need to buy/build a box, buy the sub, buy an amp install kit, and put it all together. Kinda a hassle for a newbie in car audio. you would be best served getting a all in one bass solution. got the box, speakers, and amp all together, all you need to do is send it power and signal.

Q: How much power does my receiver need?
Hi, this may be a stupid question but, could i hook up my home theater system speakers in the back of my truck? I have 4 12inch Mtx Loudspeakers and 1 400w amp. This amp has a wall plug in and i have a converter for my truck that you can put it in the cigerette lighter and it converts it to a wall plug it. can my 12v cigerette lighter power my system? or is there another way to do it?
Right now i have 3 12inch subs in my truck running off the battery but its so low it cuts off my mids and highs so me and my friends were laughing about putting my concert speakers in the bed of my truck so is this possible??
A: The 2 puny little wires on a cigarette lighter adapter is not going to be able to provide nearly enough current. That 400 watt amp with a wall plug is designed for 120VAC. At that voltage, you only need to draw 3 or 4 amps. at 12V you need to draw more than 30 amps. Most cigarette lighter plugs are fused lower than than that.
Q: Ever been to one of those Rest Stop Washrooms?
This probably isnt the correct place to put this quesion…
This question is a little random,
I was travelling back to vancouver B.C from Seattle Washington earlier today. I had to be back in vancouver very early that morning. At about two o’clock in the morning I had to pull off at a rest stop in the town of Alger Washington (Alger is about 15 minuets from the border). At this point of the morning the weather had become quite stormy.
Not a soul in the parking lot (at 2am I cannot be surprised) so I went into the Rest stop Washroom.
Bad idea right there, this had to be the absolute weirdest rest stop I have ever been to. You walk in, and its obvious to see that someone has trashed the place. Over the building loudspeaker you can hear this weird muffled information or weather report playing from god knows where. I could not tell what the information was because the sound was way to muffled to make out any words. And of course, a urinal was overflowing. The lights were flickering on and off as if there was some sort of power failure.
After leaving the washroom you have to laugh at the information posted on the bulletin board telling everyone that it may be unsafe to enter the washroom before 7am and after 8pm. Hmmm.. I wonder why?
Anyway to wrap this whole thing up I go out to my truck (I was in my ‘79 Ford Ranger). I got in, turned the key, and found out that the battery was dead as dead can be. That was my own fault, I should have been watching the experation date. Plus, I shouldent have left my lights on when I was trying to make my way the the washroom (there was no lighting, so I improvised)
Well I finnaly was able to get my ranger onto a big enough slope to start it without the battery. I guess you could say thank god for manual transmissions. The real ammenity this rest stop had to offer was the sloped driveway!
If you have ever been on that strech of I-5 at that time of morning, you would know that no cars are traveling by, so there would be no chance at a jump from another moterist.
To make a long story short, I got my truck back to Vancouver, and next time I go to seattle, Alger rest stop will not be on my map!
Anyway, sorry of I bored you with my long story, lets hear about some of your experiances at the good ‘ole rest stops.

Anyway, I was at a rest stop on 87 in New York two years ago, around 1 AM. These two guys robbed the Roy Rogers while I was there. It was so scary. They told everyone to get out of the bathrooms and made us all sit in the dining room. They took our cell phones, jewelry, and stole one person’s car. They were very angry when there was hardly any money in the cash register.
On another note, I noticed that one women swallowed her engagement ring so they wouldn’t steal it. I wonder how that came out … ew.

1) you can expand the memory by an external memory card stick. so dont worry about the message storing capacity about any of both cell phone. you can store millions of messages in that memory stick.
2)I would go for P1. as it suits my needs. but it doesn’t mean that it will suit the needs of everyone.
3) definitely K850 has louder music output from loudspeakers(mind it louder not better in quality) but when it comes to headphones.. only Walkman series wins the matches
umm.. K850 has better music than P series. P series is not for music bro.
